The DAC2.8 is centred around Bel Canto's HDR Core technology - a 20+ year refinement by Bel Canto of the digital-to-analogue process, comprising of Ultra-Low-Noise Master Clocks, Asynchronous Interfaces, and Dual-Mode Low-Noise High Efficiency Power Supplies, and Advanced Segment PCM1792 DAC. All of this results in the natural, analogue presentation from most of Bel Canto's digital products, and contributes to the 124dB dynamic range capability and low 0.0015% distortion figures of this excellent DAC/pre-amplifier.

The brushed aluminium front panel is very simple. - a display showing either input or volume, The low impedance, high current headphone output provides 300mA output from its 6.3mm headphone socket.

 

The dual-function 24bit digital volume control also chooses input - a simple press allows you to cycle through inputs. A remote control is provided for all functions.

DAC 2.8 back panel,

Two coaxial inputs, one optical input, one asynchronous Type B USB, and an balanced AES/EBU digital input all provide the connection of digital sources, handling up to 24/192kHz signals.

 

A pair of analogue RCA inputs allow the connection of an analogue source such as a turntable (with suitable phono stage).

 

One pair of unbalanced RCA outputs and one pair of balanced XLR outputs - switchable between fixed or variable - allow connection to any hi-fi system or directly to a power amplifier.
