Exposure's XM CD is a top loading compact disc player, removing the need for crude drawer mechanisms and avoiding the extra mechanics involved, and the potential unreliability of such a mechanism. This also leaves a more uncluttered, simple looking front fascia.
A magnetic puck holds the compact disc in place during use. This loading approach brings the use of a CD player a little closer to that of the more tactile, hands-on ritual of playing a record.
The Exposure XM CD player provides standard unbalanced RCA analogue outputs, using a 24bit Burr Brown PCM1716 DAC. An optical digital output, and a BNC coaxial digital output are provided for connection to external DACs and amplifiers, such as Exposure's own XM5 amplifier and XM7 pre-amplifier.
